Kyushu Basho 2018 - Day 15
Long-time leader Asashimaru lost to Kogaratsu but Andrasoyamawaka got past Norizo to achieve the same record and, with a superior score, he takes his first ever Makuuchi yusho. Congratulations. It was a good performance in a difficult and unpredictable tournament.
Bolo and Wakamasuto both won with very strong scores but Bolo has the higher total and wins a second straight Juryo yusho. Promotion to Makuuchi next tournament will be the reward. Bolo was also the highest scorer in all divisions by far.
And in Makushita, Amateratsu continued the excellent start to his Sumo Game career with a first-ever yusho.
The scoring average was 5.71 - the lowest in Sumo Game history. This was perhaps not surprising with all the high profile absences.
And finally, Pandaazuma lost and his kadoban counter is now set to 1. Yamashiro can look forward to starting 2019 as a safe ozeki.
Thanks to all the players for participating this year. And congratulations to our divisional champions.

Kyushu Basho 2018 - Day 14
Makuuchi leader Asashimaru lost today, letting in two hopefuls - Kogaratsu and Andrasoyamawaka. The scores are all very close, with Asashimaru enjoying a slight advantage. Asashimaru fights Kogaratsu tomorrow and the winner will take the big prize if they can beat Kogaratsu in a tie-break. Kogaratsu has to win to figure in the proceedings.
Bolo scored a brilliant ten today and is now level with Wakamasuto. He fights Musashimaru, who is one win behind, tomorrow. Any of these three could win, but Wakamasuto will need to both win AND score well to have a chance.
Amateratsu is the sole leader of Makushita but he fights Mariohana, who is only one win and one point behind, tomorrow. A loss would also let in Athenayama and Hayaikaze.
We also have an interesting kadoban match at the top of the banzuke: Both Yokozuna Pandaazuma and Ozeki Yamashiro are 7-7 and will fight each other to avoid kadoban status.
Good luck to all the players!

Kyushu Basho 2018 - Day 13
As we enter the final weekend of the last basho of the year, Asashimaru is our sole leader. Kogaratsu and Andrasoyamawaka are the two hopefuls just one off the pace.
Bolo has been caught in Juryo by Wakamasuto. And Makushita is led by Amateratsu and Hayaikaze. All leading records are 11-2.

Kyushu Basho 2018 - Day 9
Teraro overcame the leader Andrasoyamawaka today with some rather tricky tactics that came off handily. There are now four Maegashira leaders with 7-2 records.
In Juryo Bolo's perfect streak finally ended today but he is still a win clear of two pursuers. The Makushita leading group now numbers three, with veteran Mariohana among them.

Kyushu Basho 2018 - Day 8
Both runaway Makuuchi leaders lost today, making things a lot more interesting. Andrasoyamawaka remains the sole leader but a group of five is right behind.
Bolo stayed perfect in Juryo and is now two wins clear. Mariohana, Sayonara and Hayaikaze lead Makushita at 7-1.

Kyushu Basho 2018 - Day 7
The carnage continues and we had another sub-four average day today. Andrasoyamawaka is the sole leader with a perfect seven wins. Hironoumi is the only one in touch one win behind.
In Juryo Bolo continues the perfect streak. No one is now unbeaten in Makushita and a group of seven lead the way.

Kyushu Basho 2018 - Day 5
With a third of the basho complete, two players lead the Makuuchi division with unbeaten records. Red hot newcomer Mauji sets the pace along with Andrasoyamawaka. A group of five that includes Komusubi Chocshoporyu is in pursuit.
Bolo and Kotosho now lead Juryo, also with unblemished scores. And three players lead Makushita, two with the prestigious names of Raiden and Amaterasu.

Kyushu Basho 2018 - Day 2
Welcome all to the final basho of the year, currently being held in Kyushu.
In our game there is little to report in terms of significant promotions or newcomers to sanyaku. All current members have been there before. The scores so far have been very low, which is to be expected with the two main Yokozuna absent, and so far the average score of 4.73 is easily the lowest of all time.
Komusubi Susanoo has taken an early lead in the Makuuchi race and is the only sanyaku representative in a group of eleven.
In Juryo former Sekiwake Gurowake is part of the leading pack as he hopes to make a quick return to Makuuchi. And the mass of unbeaten Makushita players includes two super-veterans in the persons of Mariohana and Yuko.
